Activities and Programs
- Mondays - We teach new ideas in engaging community youths in the science of the AfroCentric arts and culture
- Wednesdays: We engage pre-teen and teen in fostering the love of reading from our Timbuktu bookstore
- Everyday: As art curators, we are open to the general public for free from 4pm to 8 pm daily for visitors and art enthusiasts to tour our extensive collections of art works.
- Local artists daily use 1944 Eglinton Avenue West to showcase and exhibit their works of arts from free
- Training: Digitization of artworks which factors IP and others into considerations.
- Black Diamond organizes quarterly art exhibitions providing opportunities to our members and partnerships to showcase works of art from a wide spectrum.
- Thursdays: We teach and educate audiences on Ancient literature of the Arts
- We are currently developing an innovative programming - social inclusion of vulnerable seniors. This program aims to address social exclusion of seniors in our community, Little Jamaica through culturally appropriate programming and activities such as dinner with community art practitioners, dance presentations, afrocentric art exhibitions, education, etc.
- We teach the history of our collection of art works - origins and creators.
- Document the life and works of community artists for posterity sake.
- Inclusivity: Though Afrocentric in designation, we are however open to all regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, social status, etc.
Community Engagement
We are not just an art gallery; we are a community. Through educational programs, workshops, and partnerships with local schools and institutions, we strive to nurture a deeper understanding of Afrocentric culture among the youth and the broader community.
